With Lowes Motor Speedway as the backdrop, the Flying Aces kicked off their spring season in style as they hosted their Club's first Fun Fly on April 12, 2008. It was a big success with over 35 pilots registered and at least an addtional 40 spectators. Bliss Teague, AMA District IV VP, was in attendance to support the Club's new adventure. And, thanks to Humpy Wheeler and the speedway, the Flying Aces have a great place to fly and meet new friends. A number of Charlotte Aeromodelers came out to support the Club at their new home. www.charlotteaeromodelers.org Pictures by John P. Metcalf

Is that Canker Worm stew in the pot??? No, it is fried bread, and better than the county fair.
Some of the more than a dozen Charlotte Aeromodelers hamming it up.
And Todd, how old is this transmitter???
The Jimmy's (Katz and Ritch that is) getting ready to put on a show.
OK Larry, where's the water. UhOh, the skies did open up. But you need more than a puddle.
Jimmy Ritch has new competition, there's a new sheriff in town. This young man can fly it up!!!
Looking confident. On his takeoff, he immediately rolled it inverted and wowed the crowd.
He even had the local paper chasing him for an interview.
A new crew of crop dusters about to take to the air. Hey guys the canker worms left last week!!!
